Conservation Plans

Be sure to contact NRCS if you plan to clean out existing ditches, clear land, dig any type of drainage ditch, put in a pond or change you current crop rotation.  If you have a conservation plan on file, it must be updated to reflect any changes or it could affect your program eligibility for FSA programs.   Why lose out on payments if you can avoid it with a simple phone call to NRCS?

CREP Program

For the townships of Deer Creek and Taft, there is a continuous Conservation Program with many incentives that could pay on marginal pasture and riparian buffers.  In the township Deer Creek, there are payments for grassland areas, also.  Rental on these areas can be as much as $50 per acre, not including the cost-sharing for installing the needed practices and the incentive payments available for establishing the practices.

Many farmers have signed up already !  There is no deadline, but when all the targeted acres have been enrolled, the program will end, so don’t delay.  Call NRCS or FSA for more details at 715-748-4121.
