General Windows 98 Shortcuts (Keyboard Shortcut Notation)

F1 - See Help on the selected dialog box item 

ALT + F4 - Quit a Program 

SHIFT + F10 - View the4 shortcut menu for the selected Item 

CTRL + ESC - Display the start Menu 

Alt + TAB - Switch to window you last used (Or last option) 

TAB - Switch to next window (Or next option) 

CTRL + X - Cut 

CTRL + C - Copy 

CTRL + V - Paste 

CTRL + Z - Undo 

DEL - Delete 

SHIFT (while inserting CD-ROM) - Bypass AutoPlay when
inserting a CD-ROM 

CTRL + ALT + DEL - Task Manager 

CTRL + ALT + DEL (TWICE) - Reboot 

For Desktop, My Computer, & Windows Explorer:

F2 - Rename an Item 

F3 - Find a folder or file 

SHIFT + DEL - Delete without placing in recycle bin 

ALT + ENTER - View item properties 

ALT + DOUBLECLICK - View item properties 

CTRL while dragging a file - Copy a file 

CTRL + SHIFT while dragging a file - Create a Shortcut 



For My Computer & Windows Explorer:

CTRL + A - Select All 

F5 - Refresh a Window 

Backspace - View the folder one level up 

SHIFT while clicking close button - close the selected folder and
all its parent folders 

F6 - Switch between left and right panels

For Windows Explorer Only:

CTRL + G - Goto 

F6 - Switch between left and right panels. 

NUMLOCK + * - expand all subfolders under the selected folder. 

NUMLOCK + PLUSSIGN - expand the selected folder.

NUMLOCK + MINUSSIGN - collapse the selected folder right
arrow expand current selection if it's collapsed or select subfolder
left arrow - collapse current selection if it's expanded or select
folder.
