Windows 98 Operations

Objectives

Students will have mastered the material when they can:

l       Describe the Microsoft Windows 98 user interface

l       Identify the objects on the Microsoft Windows 98 desktop (Icons, Task Bar, Quick Launch, Tray Status, My Computer Window, Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer)

l       Perform the basic mouse operations: point, click, right-click, double-click, drag, and right-drag

l       Open, minimize, maximize, restore, scroll, and close a window

l       Move and resize a window on the desktop

l       Understand keyboard shortcut notation

l       Identify the three desktop views: Classic style, Web style, and Custom style

l       Launch and quit an application program

l       Identify the elements of the Exploring – My Computer window (Windows Explorer)

l       Create, expand, and collapse a folder

l       Select and copy one file or a group of files

l       Rename and delete a folder or file

l       Use Windows 98 Help

l       Quit Windows Explorer and shut down Windows 98

l       Identify each application in Microsoft Office 2000

l       Define World Wide Web, intranet, and Internet

l       Explain how each Microsoft Office 2000 application uses the Internet

l       Understand the Microsoft Office 2000 Help system
