CREATING A WEB PAGE WITH
NETSCAPE COMPOSER
TEXT
Text can be entered much as in a word processing program. The text can be sized, fonts and color can be changed
and several formats can be chosen. Use the tool bar at the top of the screen or go to the Format menu option.
BACKGROUNDS
Backgrounds can be selected by using the Format menu option and then selecting the Page Colors Properties
option. Once chosen, the background color can be selected or any images may be selected.
IMAGES AND ANIMATED GIFS
Images and Animated GIFs can be inserted by either choosing the Image option on the tool bar or by choosing the
Insert and then Image option from the menu. Images and Animated GIFs can be chosen from Clip Art files,
previously saved Internet images, Digital camera images or Scanned images all of which must be saved to your
disk along with the web page files. These images must not be deleted from your disk if they are being used on your
web page.
HORIZONTAL RULE
The horizontal line option is on the tool bar and also under the Insert menu option. This line may be colored and
also widened.
TABLES
Tables can be created by using the Table option from the tool bar or from the Insert menu option. Once chosen,
the table dimensions can be set along with other table options listed in the dialog box. Once a Table is on the page,
editing the table such as changing rows and columns, deleting tables or rows or columns, or other Table changes
can be accomplished by using the Right Mouse Button as the mouse is pointing to the table. Tables can be visible
or transparent and are used to help format location of text and images on the page. Spaces are not recognized in
HTML so as a result you are limited to Alignments of left, center or right and the use of a transparent tables.
HYPERLINKS
Hyper links are use to link web pages to other web sites (External) or to link one web page file to another web page
file (Internal) or link from one position on a page to another position on a page (Anchor) or link to an e-mail page.
To create a link, either choose the Link option on the tool bar or use the Link option from the menu bar under
Insert. Once the Link option is chosen, enter the complete web site address or the file name. To activate the link,
the file must be saved and the Preview in Browser option from the tool bar must be selected.
