CREATING A WEB PAGE MICROSOFT WORD
TEXT
Text can be entered much as in a word processing program. The text can be sized, fonts and color can be changed
and several formats can be chosen. Use the tool bar at the top of the screen or go to the Format menu option.
BACKGROUNDS
Backgrounds can be selected by using the Format menu option and then selecting
Background where a color
chart appears or More Colors or Fill Effects for existing choices or choose the Other Texture option to import
external background images.
IMAGES AND ANIMATED GIFS
Images and Animated GIFs can be inserted by either choosing the Insert Picture option on the tool bar or by
choosing the Insert and then Picture option from the menu. Images and Animated GIFs can be chosen from Clip
Art or From File... where previously saved Internet images, Digital camera images or Scanned images are saved.
All image files must be saved and maintained on your disk along with your web page files. These images must not
be deleted from your disk if they are being used on your web page.
HORIZONTAL RULE
The horizontal line option is under the Format Menu in the Borders and Shading
folder. Choose Horizontal Line.
TABLES
Tables can be created by using the Insert Table option from the tool bar or from the Table menu option where
Insert table is chosen. Once chosen, the table dimensions can be selected. Once a Table is on the page, editing the
table such as changing rows and columns, deleting tables or rows or columns, or other Table changes can be
accomplished by using the Right Mouse Button as the mouse is pointing to the table. Tables can be visible or
transparent (Hide Gridlines) and are used to help format location of text and images on the page. Spaces are not
recognized in HTML so as a result you are limited to Alignments of left, center or right and the use of transparent
tables.
HYPERLINKS
Hyperlinks are use to link web pages to other web sites (External) or to link one web page file to another web page
file (Internal) or link from one position on a page to another position on a page (Anchor) or link to an e-mail page.
To create a link, either choose the Insert Hyperlink option on the tool bar or use the Hyperlink option from the
menu bar under Insert. Once the Link option is chosen, enter the complete web site address or the file name or if
the web site was previously copied use "Ctrl V" to paste the address. To activate the link, the file must be saved
and the Web Page Preview option from the tool bar must be selected.
